1. Sobre la autoría

La revista establece que las herramientas de inteligencia artificial no podrán ser consideradas como autoras ni coautoras de alguna publicación científica. Esto se sustenta en el hecho de que la IA carece de personalidad jurídica, autonomía ética y capacidad para asumir la responsabilidad del contenido generado.

La autoría debe corresponder exclusivamente a personas humanas que puedan responder por la veracidad, originalidad y legitimidad del contenido presentado.

Se podrán utilizar contenidos generados por IA como objeto de estudio, conforme el siguiente lineamiento.

2. Declaración explícita del uso de IA

Todo autor que haya utilizado herramientas de IA en cualquier fase del proceso académico deberá declararlo expresamente. Esta declaración incluirá:

• El nombre y versión de la herramienta empleada.
• La finalidad de su uso (por ejemplo, corrección gramatical, generación de esquemas, objeto de estudio, traducción, entre otros).
• Las secciones del texto en las que fue aplicada.

Dicha información deberá integrarse en una sección específica del artículo, bajo el título “Declaración de uso de herramientas de inteligencia artificial” como parte de la metodología.

3. Limitaciones en el uso de IA

El uso de inteligencia artificial se autoriza únicamente como apoyo complementario, quedando estrictamente prohibido su empleo para:

• Redacción automática de artículos o secciones sustanciales del texto.
• Generación de resultados, conclusiones o interpretaciones jurídicas.
• Creación de referencias bibliográficas no verificadas.
• Simulación de argumentación jurídica.
• Manipulación de imágenes, gráficos o datos sin respaldo metodológico.
• Y otros semejantes no previstos explícitamente por estas políticas.

En todo momento, se exigirá que el uso de estas herramientas esté supervisado por el autor, quien deberá realizar una revisión crítica del contenido generado.

4. Responsabilidad del autor

El autor o autores del manuscrito serán responsables directos del contenido total, incluyendo aquellos apartados en los que haya intervenido alguna herramienta de IA. Esto implica su obligación de verificar la exactitud, pertinencia, originalidad y cumplimiento de normas éticas, con especial atención al respeto por la propiedad intelectual y la prohibición de plagio.

5. Proceso editorial y evaluación por pares

Los evaluadores y miembros del consejo editorial de Universos Jurídicos no podrán sustituir su revisión con herramientas de IA generativa para emitir dictámenes, observaciones o decisiones respecto a los manuscritos asegurándose que la labor de evaluación recaerá en una decisión humana.

Se permitirá el uso de la IA de su preferencia para la automatización de tareas editoriales como detección de plagio, errores ortográficos, gramaticales y citado incorrecto. Cualquier herramienta de apoyo utilizada en la evaluación deberá ser también declarada y especificada, asegurando un proceso editorial transparente y éticamente fundamentado.

6. Sanciones por incumplimiento

La omisión de la declaración del uso de IA, así como el uso indebido o fraudulento de estas tecnologías, podrá acarrear sanciones dictaminadas a consideración del consejo de Universos Jurídicos conforme a los lineamientos editoriales vigentes de la revista, entre ellas:

• Rechazo del manuscrito.
• Suspensión temporal del autor para publicar futuros trabajos.

7. Actualización normativa

Estos lineamientos serán revisados de forma periódica, atendiendo a los avances tecnológicos y a las recomendaciones emitidas por organismos internacionales como COPE, WAME o la Declaración de Heredia, con el objetivo de mantener una política editorial coherente, actualizada y acorde con los principios de integridad académica y ética.”

 

Artificial Intelligence Use Policy

Authorship

Universos Jurídicos establishes that artificial intelligence (AI) tools cannot be recognized as authors or co-authors of scientific publications. This position is based on the fact that AI systems lack legal personality, ethical autonomy, and the capacity to assume responsibility for the content they generate.

Authorship must be attributed exclusively to natural persons who can assume responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and legitimacy of the submitted work.

AI-generated content may, however, be used as an object of study or research subject, provided that its use complies with the guidelines set forth in this policy.

Disclosure of AI Use

Authors who have used artificial intelligence tools at any stage of the research, writing, or publication process must explicitly disclose such use. The disclosure must include:

• The name and version of the AI tool used.
• The purpose of its use (e.g., language editing, translation, outline generation, data organization, or as an object of study).
• The specific sections of the manuscript in which the tool was employed.

This information must be included in a dedicated section of the manuscript entitled “Declaration of the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools”, preferably within the methodology or research procedures section.

Limitations on the Use of AI

Artificial intelligence may be used only as a complementary support tool. Its use is strictly prohibited for:

• The automatic drafting of complete manuscripts or substantial portions of the text.
• The generation of research findings, conclusions, or legal interpretations presented as original scholarly contributions.
• The creation of unverifiable or fabricated bibliographic references.
• The simulation or fabrication of legal reasoning and scholarly argumentation.
• The manipulation of images, graphics, or research data without methodological justification and disclosure.
• Any other comparable uses that undermine academic integrity, even if not expressly addressed in this policy.

At all times, the use of AI tools must remain under the direct supervision of the author, who is responsible for critically reviewing, verifying, and validating any generated content.

Author Responsibility

The author or authors of a manuscript bear full responsibility for its content, including any sections in which artificial intelligence tools have been used.

Authors are required to verify the accuracy, relevance, originality, and ethical compliance of all submitted material, with particular attention to intellectual property rights, proper attribution of sources, and the prevention of plagiarism.

Editorial Process and Peer Review

Reviewers and members of the Editorial Board of Universos Jurídicos may not delegate or replace their scholarly judgment with generative AI systems when preparing peer-review reports, recommendations, editorial assessments, or publication decisions. Editorial and peer-review decisions must remain the responsibility of human reviewers and editors.

The use of AI tools for editorial support tasks—such as plagiarism detection, language editing, grammar review, citation verification, and similar functions—is permitted. Any such tools employed during the editorial process should be disclosed and documented to ensure transparency and adherence to ethical standards.

Sanctions for Non-Compliance

Failure to disclose the use of AI tools, as well as the improper, deceptive, or fraudulent use of such technologies, may result in sanctions determined by the Editorial Board of Universos Jurídicos in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies. These sanctions may include:

• Rejection of the manuscript.
• Temporary suspension of the author’s eligibility to submit future manuscripts.
• Additional corrective measures deemed appropriate by the Editorial Board.

Policy Review and Updates

These guidelines will be reviewed periodically in response to technological developments and recommendations issued by international organizations and initiatives, including the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and the Heredia Declaration.

The purpose of these updates is to ensure that the journal maintains an editorial policy that is current, coherent, transparent, and aligned with the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics.
