Resumen

En los últimos años, el mundo ha visto una reacción cada vez mayor contra la globalización. Este artículo analiza la naturaleza, las causas y las consecuencias de las reacciones en contra de la globalización. Se propone que, contrario a la narrativa popular, la reacción no está asociada con un gran cambio en la opinión pública contra la globalización, sino más bien es el resultado de su politización. La creciente influencia de los actores escépticos de la globalización ha resultado en políticas más proteccionistas, aislacionistas y nacionalistas; algunas de las cuales amenazan fundamentalmente a los pilares del orden internacional contemporáneo. Tanto las causas materiales como las no materiales, impulsan la reacción de la globalización, y estas causas interactúan y median entre sí. Las consecuencias están determinadas por las respuestas de los actores sociales, los gobiernos nacionales y los responsables políticos internacionales. Estas respuestas pueden ceder y reforzar la reacción global o hacer retroceder contra ella. Comprender estas dinámicas es una tarea importante para el fututo de la globalización.
