(A STATE IN CRISIS: TOWARDS A CORRECT INTERPRETATION OF VICARIOUS VIOLENCE)

Abstract

Vicarious violence; violence by substitution has been perceived as a type of violence exercised by the man towards the woman, who, in her eagerness to harm the woman, mistreats the children because she knows that she will never recover. It is understood as damage to motherhood. However, the new conception of vicarious violence is studied from a linguistic panorama in which the perception of the phenomenon is expanded; implementing criteria that ensure the protection of all victims, rethinking that it is not exclusive violence from men to women, but the other way around and in homoparental couples. Including that the victims are not limited to the children, but to objects of value or importance for the person who is intended to harm. A new term is included in the new panorama: "vicarious element," which establishes that it should not be limited to parents.
