AUTONOMY AND DYING WELL IN MEXICO

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the dilemmas that arise from the regulation of the right to die well, considering philosophical, sociological and doctrinal perspectives, which make visible the possibility of euthanasia and/or assisted suicide, contemplated from the dignity or quality of life that a person with a terminal illness would have who wants to have the alternatives to stop suffering and die in peace. A qualitative, quantitative and comparative methodology was used, which allows distinguishing the contexts that take into account the countries in which autonomy is fully regulated, emphasizing the need for alternatives to be legislated in Mexico that contribute to achieving a good death. The research allows us to conclude that, behind the arguments for or against, it is necessary to take into account the opinion of citizens, respecting their choice to live and die with dignity.
